• Question: Did you face any problems whilst becoming an engineer?

      Yes and no. I decided to become an Engineer when I was 28. I went back to university as a “Mature” student.
      Going back into full time education after I had built up a life (and some debts) was logistically difficult. (Also It’s a bit depressing to be working in the same role as someone 10 years younger than me.)
      That being said, going back to university to do Engineering was one of the greatest decisions of my life. I’m in a career now that I’m passionate about and any problems are easier to overcome because of that.

      Personally I didn’t. The degree isn’t an easy one, but as long as you know that going in and aren’t too hard on yourself if you find it tricky there shouldn’t be any problems.

      Not particularly. There were a few incidents early on when people didn’t believe I could be one or thought I’d only got my job because I’m a girl but those all got sorted out pretty quickly…

      No problems really, just a lot of hard work at uni and lots and lots of reading and learning. But it’s all worth it.
