      Important question!
Because I’m studying for a PhD full time at the moment, I don’t actually have a salary – instead, I’m being paid a quarterly grant from the government and my industrial sponsor (Airbus). It’s not luxury, but it’s enough to live comfortably. From previous experience, a starting salary as an aerospace engineer can be somewhere between £25,000-35,000.

As a mechanical engineer, starting salary was somewhere between £20,000 – £35,000 when I was looking for graduate jobs a few years ago, depending on the industry and where in the country you’re based.

Starting Salaries vary depending on what type of Engineering you choose.
As a University Graduate joining a Design Consultant like mine you’d get between £25 and £30K.
There are other alternatives. The construction industry has lots of apprentice opportunities with even more varied salaries.
My companies UK COE Mark Naysmyth joined the company as a apprentice.

Enough to live comfortably and have a bit left over for crazy hobbies but not enough to afford the cars I make 😛

Very good question. Based on people I know graduates are getting between 20-30K then after that it depends on location, experience. Principle Engineers can earn £45-55, this requires a lot of experience and typically chartership status.
